Fuel trouble

When going from a carburettor system to a fuel injection system it was, as stated by Mark "going from jet-science to rocket-science" On these pages you can track down faults developed in your rocket ;) If one of your sensors is dead, youl see a flashing green light on your computer. Check out the sequence and try to sort your problems with this help

There are a lot of tests that can be done on all sensors etc. But I havent finished that part yet ;) Its a lot of database entry, and thats my weak side.....

First the Injector Signal Test; Control Unit Power Supply Test, Main Relay Wire Test, Fuel Pump Power Supply Test, Pump Relay Wire Test.

I have to work on the Injector Wire Test, Throttle Opening Angle Signal Test, Engine Speed Signal Test, Air Temperature Signal Test, Engine Temperature Signal Test, Starter Signal Test and the Boost Signal Test.

Injector Connectors (4)

Pull connector loose and put a multimeter/testlight between the connectors. Testlight should flikker when cranking the engine, multimeter runs up and down. CPU power supply, Main Relay wires, Injector Wires,Engine speed signal, Starter signal, Main/pump relay, Replace CPU
Control Unit Connector

Put a multimeter (+) on no 16 (Black/Green), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 7 (Blue/Yellow), (-) on Ground

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volts

If ignition switch is on; Batterie voltage

Check the Black Green wire

Check the Blue/Yellow, Main Relay Wires and/or Main Pump Relay

Put a multimeter (+) on (Black/Yellow), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on (Red), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on (White/Red), (-) on Ground

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volts

If ignition switch is on; Batterie voltage

Check the Black/Yellow wire

Check the Red wire

Check the White/Red wire

Fuel Pump, 2-pin connector

Put a multimeter (+) on (Black/Yellow), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on (Orange/Black), (-) on Ground

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volts

If ignition is switched on: Batterie voltage for about 5 sec, then 0 Volt If starter switch is switched on or engine speed signal is sent to controlunit; Batterie voltage Otherwise 0 Volt

Check the Black/Yellow wire

Check the Orange/Black, Black, Green, Pump Relay wires Check the Main/Pump relay Replace CPU

Relay White Connector

Put a multimeter (+) on (Black/Yellow), (-) on Ground Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volt Check the Black/Yellow wire
Control Unit Connector, pump relay Put a multimeter (+) on no 21(Green/White), (-) on Ground If ignition is switched on: Batterie voltage for about 5 sec, then 0 Volt If engine speed signal is sent to controlunit; Batterie voltage Otherwise 0 Volt Check the Green/White wire CPU power supply Replace CPU

Put a multimeter (+) on no 4(White/Red), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 1(Black/Yellow), (-) on Ground

Regardless of ignition switch always Batterie voltage

Check the Yellow wire, injector, injector connectors

Check the White/Red wire

Check the Black/Yellow wire

Control Unit Connector

Throttle opening angle signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 5(Blue/Red), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 11(Blue/White), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 17(Blue/Orange), (-) on Ground

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volt

If ignition is switched on: 0.5-5.2 Volt decreasing smootly when throttle opens

If ignition is switched on: 7.2-8.8 Volt, otherwise 0 Volt

Check the Blue/Red wire, replace control unit

Check the Blue/White wire, Throttle sensor (and position)

Check the Blue/White wire, Boost Sensor, Control Unit power supply, replace Control Unit

Control Unit Connector

Engine speed signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 8(Green) or no 28(Black), (-) on Ground If ignition is switched on: Batterie voltage Check the Green, Black wire
Control Unit Connector

Air temperature signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 6(Blue), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 5(Blue/Red), (-) on Ground

If ignition is switched on: 2.3-3.4V at 20C, 2.8-4.0 at 0C, 2.1-2.9V at 30C and 3.4-4.6V with sensor disconnected

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volt

Check the Blue wire, air temp sensor, control unit power supply, replace control unit

Check the Blue/Red wire, replace Control Unit

Control Unit Connector

Engine temperature signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 10(Grey), (-) on Ground If ignition is switched on: 2.0-3.1V at 20C, 2.6-3.8V at 0C, 0.52-0.96V at 80C and 3.4-4.6V with sensor disconnected Check the Grey wire, engine temp sensor, control unit power supply, replace control unit

Check the Blue/Red wire, replace Control Unit

Control Unit Connector

Starter signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 19(Red/Black), (-) on Ground If Starter switch is pressed: Batterie voltage Check the Red/Black wire, Main pump relay
Relay White Connector Put a multimeter (+) on (Black), (-) on Ground If starter switch is switched on; Batterie voltage Otherwise 0 Volt Check the Black wire
Control Unit Connector

Boost signal test

Put a multimeter (+) on no 15(Pink), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 5(Blue/Red), (-) on Ground

Put a multimeter (+) on no 17(Blue/Orange), (-) on Ground

If ignition is switched on: 1.9-2.8V at 1.013 mb (760 mmHg), 1.7-2.5V at 0.898 mb (674 mmHg), 1.50-2.2V at 795 mb (596 mmHg) and 3.4-4.6V with sensor disconnected

Regardless of ignition switch always 0 Volt

If ignition is switched on: 7.2-8.8 Volt, otherwise 0 Volt

Check the Pink wire, replace boost sensor

Check the Blue/Red wire, replace control unit

Check the Blue/Orange wire, Boost Sensor, Control Unit power supply, replace Control Unit

Control Unit Memory Trouble

Remove CPU, change it for another one If change is succesfull leave it. If not wiring problem Replace Control Unit
